Joe Nathan Abellard is a Senior Software Engineer on the Cloud Native Compute Services (CNCS) Platform Engineering team at Bloomberg. He's the lead engineer and product owner for Bloomberg's large-scale, managed multi-cluster Kubernetes platform, built on the CNCF Karmada project. The managed Kubernetes platform enables the firm's engineering teams to meet the organization's high-availability (HA) mandate across distributed infrastructure, without requiring deep multi-cluster expertise — turning complex orchestration challenges into paved paths for tenants running high-priority workloads spanning AI, streaming analytics, and general compute.
Joe Nathan is also a core maintainer of Karmada and a recurring speaker at KubeCon and other Linux Foundation conferences on topics ranging from multi-cluster HA architectures and platform observability at scale to zero-downtime platform migrations. Building and operating cloud native platforms in production while contributing back to the open source projects he depends on gives Joe Nathan a grounded perspective on where the Kubernetes ecosystem stands and where it needs to go.
